Reliance entered into the e-commerce market with JioMart.com

JioMart is an online grocery delivery service, started as a venture between Reliance Retail and Jio Platforms. Jio Mart leverage?

JioMart will leverage the facility of the local shops, (known as kiranas in India), to deliver grocery on to the doorstep, and therefore the company has over 50,000 listed kiranas within the three areas where it’s currently active. Reliance being a domestic player doesn’t come under the purview of strict FDI regulations that Amazon has got to affect. Plus, they need the whip hand, because the government could change its outlook anytime to guard the interests of the tiny businesses throughout the country.

JioMart which they called ‘Desh ki Nayi Dukaan’. Reliance Jio is giving its users pre-registration discounts up to Rs. 3,000 under the JioMart Offers only for early registered customers.

The service of Jio-Mart has been launched some parts of India and later the service will be scaled up countrywide. The launch of Jio Mart is not good news for their competitors such as Amazon, Grofers, Bigbasket, and Flipkart.

Hence, competing directly with Amazon Prime Now, which promises two-hour delivery of common home items. The official JioMart website claims that an Android and iOS app is within the making. Upon launch, users are going to be ready to place orders directly from their smartphones. Reliance is yet to announce a tentative launch date of the mobile app, stating that it’s currently under development.

 

The service is offering discounts across products and categories, with the web site advertising a “minimum 5% below MRP”. within the fresh produce section, They say it sources the things directly from farmers. In packaged food, the web site also displays Reliance’s private brands like Snactac. Jiomart offers you the convenience of shopping everything that you need for your home – be it fresh fruits & vegetables, rice, dals, oil, packaged food, dairy item, frozen, pet food, household cleaning items & personal care products from a single virtual store.
